The risk outlook for the Asia-Pacific region continues to worsen with particular concerns in the maritime dimension. US President Trump’s policies are forcing fundamental changes in regional economic and security structures, with trade especially at risk. The security system is under strain. Separating out economic and security concerns has become close to impossible. These shifts place particular pressures on shipping, as the region is inherently maritime, given geography, and key issues such as Taiwan. There will be winners and losers from these changes, though. Steve Vickers will discuss how deft handling can benefit nimble companies.
